Don't apologize! The one thing I still miss from my Methodist upbringing is the hymnal (I have three in my piano bench, from different years, from which I still sing daily.) Those hymns taught me the faith. Catholic hymns just seem shallow in comparison.

I loved your comments; I am currently attending a rather conservative Catholic Church. Many people label me as "wierd" since I enjoy Centering Prayer, read non-Catholic books and believe God interacts with all His creatures, even those outside of the Christian faiths.

Oh an I forgot to say my husband shared a condo with me and and another girl in college. We were friends and hung out together. When my brother came to visit he asked me why T and I were not dating, because he seemed like a nice guy. We married after we graduated. We have been married 17.5 years.

Your conversion is interesting and moving.

I am the religion I was raised in, but I didn't attend after college or until my daughter was born. (I think my beliefs are a bit different from the church, but it is what I feel most comfortable raising my daughter in.)

My husband and I were married in the Lutheran church, my husband's religion because we were in a hurry to get married before my husband's grandmother died. Some years later when we had our daughter, we took her to my church for the sacraments. During that time, my husband decided to convert. The Byzantine rite is a small rite of Greek Catholics, not Greek, but Eastern. (It used to be mostly Slovaks, but now it is more ethnically diverse as it is seen as an alternative for Roman Catholics because it is Catholic, but the service is like the Greek Orthodox (I use to go there too).)

No classes for my husband, just private discussions with the priest once a week. Our marriage was blessed before the other sacraments were given. So when Ami was two months, my husband and her were chrismated (baptism, Eucharist and confirmation all at once). (The Lutheran baptism is valid depending how it was done, but my husband didn’t have a record.)

Wow, what a great story! Thank you so much for sharing :-) I know you are not the first person to find faith in Mary before Jesus. I'm sure she points the way to him.

I really love your honesty.

Interesting, thought-provoking post. I look forward to reading the rest of your site. (PS, I deeply love that quote from Jesus, "I leave you my peace etc".)

The more I read from this new pope, the more I really like him. He seems to have so much ordinary wisdom.
